Ecological ProgramHaving in mind a wide-ranging geography of deliveries by the NTC holding and present requirements of timber products' buyers not only to the quality but to the forest conservation on the part of the producer as well as the responsibility for preserving nature for the future generations, our company develops an ecological policy in respect of forest utilization and forest procurement. According to this policy and the Provision on forests lease the NTC Forest Management Department carries out regular activities on the restoration of forest plantations according to regulatory and technological maps on the establishment of forest plantation, thus, restoring functions and biological forest diversity lost during forest utilization. Each autumn the special activities on the preparation of land plots for new plantations are carried out where the utilized forest plots were located. Spruce cultures are being planted after the winter soil shrinkage and melting of snow: 3-5 y.o. transplants bought at forestry enterprises' lining-out nurseries. Then the plantations are cultivated, cut, weeded and the territory is cleaned. The average territory of cultivated new forest stands amounts to 200 ha annually. Supporting the policy developed by the Association of environmentally conscious timber industrialists of the WWF, as well as under the company's ecological development and activities aimed at increasing our products' competitiveness, the NTC holding is planning to carry out a certification according to the FSC international standard. This certification includes a voluntary independent assessment of the forest management's compliance with the world standard (FSC) and grants our company an additional advantage in promoting timber materials on the world market. The holding's management in its activities is governed by the RF legislation as well as regulatory acts on forest environmental relations: the RF Forestry Code, the environmental legislation, resolutions of the RF Ministry of Natural Resources, etc. |
