About NTC Group

National Timber Company (NTC) is a vertically integrated holding company uniting harvesting and woodworking operations in various regions of northwest Russia. The Vologda, Arkhangelsk, Ulianovsk and Karelia regions, are homes for various operating entities within the NTC group. "Kipelovo", "Kovzha", "Kirillov" and the leading woodworking plant "Sokol" operate in the Vologda region. The "Ulianovsk" plant is situated in the Ulianovsk region south of Moscow. "Ustiales" is one of the largest combined harvesting and milling plants in the Arkhangelsk region. In Autumn 2003, "Severlesprom" located in the Vologda region and the "Ilyinsky" mill were successfully acquired and are now an integral part of the NTC Group.

The acquisition of these companies is part of a long-term investment program, which started in 1996 with the establishment of "Kipelovo Forestry Enterprises" operating in the Vologda region. The expansion of the group stipulated the creation of a vertically integrated group of forestry companies. This structure enables to balance the harvesting and processing capacity of the group in order to establish higher quality product, service and reliability in the timber market.

Our management team considered the year 2002 as a period of stabilization and rethinking the overall strategy of the group. The emphasis in 2003 has been to set up a more secure and stable platform for further expansion of the group. NTC harvests over 1 million m3 of various species found in the northwest of Russia, majority of which are Pine, Spruce, Birch and Aspen. NTC produces approximately 500,000 m3 of saw logs annually, mills approximately 250,000 m3 including 120,000 m3 of export sawn timber annually.

Investments into new technologically advanced equipment, and attraction of highly qualified personnel enable us to produce goods at a higher volume and of a higher quality. These products are in steady demand in the domestic and world market. Every NTC enterprise is equipped with high-capacity production machinery produced by leaders such as Weinig, Eisemann, Link, Streif, Rex, Alber, Vollmer.
